Willow Garage intends to revolutionize robotic mobile manipulation and to jump start a broad scale industry in that area. Primary Function

Develop and program new boards for sensing, communications, and motor control, and help with refinement of existing systems

Roles and Responsibilities

Drive development of FPGA-based stereo sensor with gigabit-interface and multiple imager chips

  • Develop / integrate FPGA code for Gigabit Ethernet interface
  • Define architecture for accessing multiple camera imagers simultaneously
  • Write FPGA implementation of existing stereo-processing algorithms to find 3d points from images
  • Manage development schedule to finish sensor in time for integration with full robot system

Support electrical engineering team in refinement of existing systems

  • Help implement test infrastructure for 2 current-controlled motor drive boards
  • Support electrical engineering team on design and code reviews, and with major architectural and strategic decisions

Skills / Job Requirements

  • Very strong FPGA and microcontroller abilities
  • Competence with PC-side code for development, testing, and interfacing
  • Ability to do schematic design and capture
  • Ability to do PCB layout for small but high-complexity PCBs
  • Track record of managing to schedules and producing working products on time
