PR2 Overview
| The PR2 development platform is a two-armed mobile
robot designed for mobile manipulation research and applications. Its
size and proportions are similar to that of a human, optimizing its
ability to perform tasks in everyday environments—such as opening
standard doors. The system integrates power, sensors, computation,
mobility, and actuating arms into one system that works with the ROS
software platform. This platform alleviates the difficult and costly
process of building a robot from concept to finished product;
researchers can focus on unsolved problems rather than dealing with
soldering, power supplies, and communication protocols. The PR2 was
designed from the ground up to be robust, fully integrated, and
extensible. PR2 is currently under development, but will be made available to academic and industrial research and development labs once we're confident that it's ready. If you're interested in hearing more about the PR2 as we approach release, sign up for the pr2-announce mailing list. |
